HBOT - Why Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is not popular in India

The physical and biological principles of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) are simple, well studied and is based on proven science.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) became popular in the first half of the twentieth century because of its efficacy in treating decompression sickness, a life-threatening complication in divers. During the second half of the twentieth century Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBOT) was studied and applied to many medical conditions such as gas gangrene, carbon monoxide poisoning, radiation necrosis, thermal burns, diabetic foot ulcers, and crush injury.

In India Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in the field of hyperbaric medicine is much under utilized. If utilized in well selected patients, hyperbaric oxygen therapy may help increase survival in many diseases.

Doctors in India are rarely taught about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in medical institutions and therefore most may not know about the benefits it renders. If physicians do not know about a therapy, they obviously will not prescribe it. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in India has been restricted to a few centers and the reasons for its non expansion to other centers may be varied.

A large majority of medical doctors believe that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) should be restricted to treatment of those limited conditions with prior FDA approval. There are more than 30,000 published scientific papers on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and who advocate or use HBOT to treat patients for many other indications.
When used as an adjunct treatment of modality, HBOT can significantly improve morbidity and mortality, reduce length of hospital stay, reduces the need for surgical interventions, lessen the need for surgery or foot amputations, reduces treatments costs and improves quality of life.
Hyperbaric oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is an effective adjunct to standard modalities for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers used in the western world for over twenty years. In India Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has captured the interests of wound care givers and podiatrists as their counterparts in the western world and will become increasingly an adjunct treatment to provide healing care for Diabetic Foot Ulcers in diabetic patients.
Until the recent past, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chambers were thought to be unaffordable and medical care givers were of the notion that installing a HBOT chamber in not a profitable proposition for their medical facilities and Hyperbaric treatments are not affordable to their patients.

  1. The FDA / CDC etc are 'captured' regulators. They should not be trusted to dictate the limits of treatment. PTSD is a classic case of such.

Gold standard research by the DOD was done to compare PTSD results under HBOT vs the usual highly questionable standard DRUGS, using mild-HBOT treatment (the inexpensive soft-sided chambers) as the placebo control cases.

The results showed that HBOT --AND mild HBOT-- both did significantly better.

The conclusion issued was that HBOT did no better than the controls/placebos. Hence the standard shall remain the horrifying side-effect prone DRUGS.

Surprised? Any sane mind would have celebrated that the improved benefits for the patients was doable with an inexpensive protocol of mild-HBOT. But not the twisted regulators. Trust them not.

Look for other clinical expertise, like the Russians or the Japanese. That's where we find it. For example on pregnancy and delivery uses. And the absolutely diabolical suppression of intravenous vitamin C shows how 'untrustworthy' and deficient in scientific integrity are the FDA / CDC etc. As seeable in the records in Curing the Incurable, and also in Primal Panacea. Both by cardiologist T.E.Levy, MD, JD.

Thanks for the insight into India's situation.

  2. Many thanks for your comment. Regulators are the "drug Industry" controlled dictators. No one suffers under HBOT.... There are more people dying without HBOT in this world. I am quite amazed at the situation wherein the war veterans are killing themselves by the dozens in a day where HBOT is one of the inexpensive and least risk free treatment is available for PTSD !!! Is the government so poor to not save these veterans precious lives who kept the citizens safe while dedicating their core lives to the safety of their country ? Drug money is worldwide destructive of life.
